More women in the United States die for heart disease than any other. The
most common deaths occur with heart attacks or strokes. Factors such as
atherosclerosis (Thickening of blood vessels), smoking, uncontrolled
hypertension, and obesity contribute to heart disease and can be managed to
prevent this horrible outcome.
Physical inactiveness contributes to cardiovascular and heart disease. By
being active, blood pressure and weight can be controlled, excess fluid and
fat can be lost, thereby boosting energy and creating a happier more self
confident you.
These are questions you may ask your doctor during your next visit:
- Blood Pressure.
- Blood Sugar.
- Body Mass Index.
- Cholesterol levels (HDL and LDL), or (Good cholesterol vs. Bad)
- Family History.
Factors you can control.
- Overweight/Obese. Follow a recommended healthy eating routine.
Exercise regularly at least 30 minutes to 1 hour every other day. This
will decrease cholesterol, hypertension, blood sugar, and weight.
- Smoking History. This is an easy one. Don't pick them up. Seek
treatment if you have began smoking.
Your health is important to all who surround you. Modification of your daily
routine, eating habits, understanding ethnic foods and substituting health
alternatives will introduce a healthier and longer life. Experiences in all that
