Menopause
Menopause is a normal life process in women. It is considered the "Change
of Life" stage. During the time of menopause, women experience a
multitude of symptoms and the body produces less progesterone and
estrogen. Generally, between the ages of 45 to 55 years of age this
changing process begins.
A woman has reached menopause when that naturally stopped having
periods for twelve (12) months in a row and no other causes has began this
process. Below we have listed several common symptoms of menopause.
- "Hot Flashes": Warmth sensation throughout the face, neck,
and chest.
- Changes in your period: The time between periods change or
stop completely. The flow also changes.
- Night Sweats.
- Vaginal Tissue Changes: Tissue begins to be dry, and
thinning. Intercourse and vaginal exam may become painful.
- Urinary Problems: Inability to stop leaking, burning, or painful
urination.
- Mood Changes.
- Thinning Hair or Hair Loss.
- Weight Gain.
- Changes in sexual response or decrease interest in intercourse.
Women facing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause will experience
a variety of symptoms. They may also become depressed or more easily
irritated at situations. Much research has been performed of the reasons for
depression, if you feel your life seemly changing with these symptoms,
increase in your mental state changing, or anxiety/depressive symptoms talk
with your doctor.
