Nerve Conduction Studies

Nerve Conduction Study
This title sounds painful. Not anymore! With new innovations brought into
our facility, Dr. Tiomico-Trahan and her specialized staff can perform this
study without needles. Yes, without needles like the old days. Simple
electrodes stuck strategic places on the skin
A nerve conduction simply put is to test specific electrical impulses through
the muscular and sensory systems which my be deflecting from a blockage
or injury. It evaluates symptoms such as numbness, tingling, burning, and
weakness in the arms and legs.
Diseases such as carpal tunnel syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and
peripheral neuropathy caused by diabetes, arteriosclerosis, and smoking often
cause poor nerve function and pain in the limbs. Nerve conduction studies
are extremely sensitive and will also detect spinal cord injuries suffered
through an accident.
When problems become troublesome ask the experts, there maybe more to
the problem then occasional discomfort.
- Legs cramps - Numbness
- Muscle tremors/twitching - Tingling sensations
- Past accident/fall - Loss of sensation
- Weakness in arms/legs - Loss of mobility
- Newly diagnosed diabetes or other illness.
