Life’s is changing

Physical, mental, and sexual maturing is prevelant within the adolescent age group.  The

hormone begins production of estrogen in the female ovaries and sperm production in
males.

Male Changes:

           Enlargement of the testicles
Penile enlargement after one year testicular growth.

What else to expect?

Male body size will increase, such as their feet, hands, and arms.
Hormones will increase causing sweating and without proper facial care
may lead to acne.  In this age group, it is vital to keep control of their acne to prevent
scarring.  Dermatologists can assist in the education and treatment of these skin conditions.

Mental Growth

These years bring forth many changes.  It is the beginning of independence, critical
thinking processes begin, and creation of short term objectives and goals.  They begin
having concerns with relationships, friendships bonding, physical appearance, family and
social issues to name a few.  Peer relationships become a stronger influence in their life.
Love and the identity of sexuality become prevelant in this age group.  It is this critical time
in their life that parents and children alike must be stronger in their abilities to be patient,
listen, and create a calm welcoming home atmosphere.  The home should be neutral and
invite conversation, respect, and mutual understanding.
